This Saturday Night : Hey I Know That Guy‏

Saturday(6pm-10pm) night at the Washington Street Art Center in Somerville. The exhibit is a group portraiture show curated by the snowproject.org entitled: "Hey I Know That Guy". There will be loads to look at, and purchase.

CA$H FOR YOUR WARHOL

Somerville-based artist Geoff Hargadon brings his mass-produced posters indoors for a closer look. These works pay homage to the "Cash For Your House" signs that can be found in many towns and alongside most major highways. Hargadon posts his "CA$H FOR YOUR WARHOL" signs around Boston and other major cities, a critique and visual quip at the state of the arts in business, experience and education. The series has an accompanying website for interested sellers. Also on view in this exhibition are photographs of Hargadon's thoughtful poster placements.

“Transpositions” 1-21 @ The Distillery

The exhibit “Transpositions” features projects created in response to the unique sonic and visual characteristics of the Distillery Building and its environs. Inspired by the site and context of the location - a mid-19th century former rum distillery currently housing artists, craftspeople, and small businesses - live amplification of real-time events will be combined with recorded works within the spacious room of the Distillery Gallery, exploring themes of transmission and transformation, time and memory, and location and dislocation.

Artists Derek Hoffend, Asher Thal-Nir, and Jed Speare will be showing works employing sound, video, and objects. A collaborative site-specific project will be exhibited alongside pieces initiated by each artist which will complement each other and, to varying degrees, blend together in-situ to form a larger unified atmosphere.

Please join us on January 21 from 6-9 pm for the opening reception.
