Womanthology Signing At Hub Comics in Somerville

Project founder Renae de Liz, + contributors Ellen Crenshaw, Ming Doyle, Cathy Leamy, and Stacie Ponder will sign the Kickstarter phenomenon "Womanthology," and Hub Comics will have copies on-sale.

Womanthology is a large scale anthology comic showcasing the works of women in comics. It is created entirely by over 140 women of all experience levels, including top industry professionals such as:

  • Barbara Kesel (Writer/Editor Marvel, DC, Crossgen, Image, Dark Horse)
  • Gail Simone ( DC writer, Wonder Woman, Birds of Prey, Secret Six)
  • Annie Nocenti ( Marvel writer, Dardevil, Editor for Uncanny X-Men, New Mutants)
  • Ming Doyle ( Boom, Image, Marvel artist) - Boston artist!
  • Devin Grayson (DC writer; Batman, Nightwing, New Titans)
  • Lauren Montgomery (Director & Storyboard Artist - Justice League, DC)
  • Fiona Staples (DC, Wildstorm, IDW , Vertigo artist)
  • June Brigman (Creator; Brenda Starr, Power Pack)
  • Samantha Newark (Voice of JEM, Singer/Vocals - God of War, Hook)

  • "The purpose of the book is to show support for female creators in comics and media. There will be multiple short stories, "how to"s & interviews with professionals, and features showcasing iconic female comic creators that have passed, such as Nell Brinkley and Tarpe Mills. A Kids & Teens section will also be included, showcasing their work, and offering tips & tricks to help them prepare themselves for their future careers in comics."

“World Peace Mural Tour” Comes to Boston for The 4th of July

East Boston, MA: The World Peace Mural Tour will make its way to Boston for a special 4th of July Independence Day installation of a “Handwritten Mural” by renowned Miami artist, Renda Writer. The artist will install a “World Peace” mural on the main exterior wall of Iglesias Bautista Sendas de Fe in East Boston (316 East Meridian St., Boston, MA 02128) on July 4th, starting at 10am. Boston is the first stop on the “World Peace Mural Tour.” The five-city tour will make its way to Detroit in late July and will then head back East to create murals in Philadelphia and Washington DC in August and New York in September.
