MIT Visiting Artist Guilherme Marcondes lecture and demonstration

A group of striking short films and production stills provide a glimpse into the artist's working process. Marcondes shares results from a 2-week workshop that prototyped a spatial narrative with MIT students and faculty from the GAMBIT Game Lab. A gifted animator and filmmaker, Marcondes' works have appeared on MTV, the BBC, Animal Planet and in film festivals across the globe.
Co-presented by the MIT Program in Science, Technology and Society and the MIT GAMBIT Game Lab.
The MIT Museum Presents Joël Tettamanti: Compas Points
February 15th through August 31, 2013
The MIT Museum opens Compass Points: Joël Tettamanti the first exhibition in the United States of Tettamanti's work. A Swiss photographer who travels extensively, this exhibition in the Kurtz Gallery for Photography reveals the varied impact of human settlement on the landscape, from Asia to the Arctic Circle. The exhibition at the MIT Museum features over 30 of his works and is on view February 15 through August 31, 2013.
About the artist:
Joël Tettamanti was born in Efok, Cameroon in 1977. Tettamanti received his diploma in Graphic Design and Photography in 2001 from ECAL (University of Art and Design, Lausanne), where he now teaches photography along side his independent work. Tettamanti currently lives in Lausanne, Switzerland.

EVIYAN is a new collaboration between legendary Iva Bittova, guitarist Gyan Riley & Evan Ziporyn, with guests Sandeep Das and Blake Newman. Joining Eviyan onstage will be Sandeep Das (tabla), Blake Newman (bass), and MIT CAST Visiting Artist Victor Gama, a composer and instrument builder.

The three-hour CAST spring concert, following up on 2011’s popular FAST Forward New Music Marathon, features renowned guest artists Hauschka, Pamela Z., Dewa Alit and Mark Stewart performing solo works and with students in MIT’s own Gamelan Galak Tika, Glass Lab Orchestra, Lamine Touré and Rambax.

East Boston, MA: The World Peace Mural Tour will make its way to Boston for a special 4th of July Independence Day installation of a “Handwritten Mural” by renowned Miami artist, Renda Writer. The artist will install a “World Peace” mural on the main exterior wall of Iglesias Bautista Sendas de Fe in East Boston (316 East Meridian St., Boston, MA 02128) on July 4th, starting at 10am. The mural will include the phrase “WORD PEACE” spray-painted repetitiously, in a patriotic mix of red, white, and blue. For more details, check the World Peace Mural Tour Facebook Event.
