We typically don't watch TV on Sunday afternoons, but if Rob Potylo's show, "Quiet Desperation", was scheduled to air on Sundays, we would be sure to tune in. "Quiet Desparation" is an entertaining reality show on YouTube that showcases local creatives. Rob Potylo is a former BCN radio personality, musician, and artist, highly regarded by the art community. He has created over 400 videos, and his YouTube channel has gained close to 3 million views. When Rob pitched his show to a seemingly interested network, he did not expect to later be rejected.

Crows & Sparrows continues its collaboration with Balagan to co-present “Expanded Animation: New Directions in Chinese Animation”, which includes works by a number of young moving image artists based in mainland China, and highlighting the animation work of the award-winning young Chinese filmmaker Lei Lei (b. 1985). This event is the second of a two-part co-presentation introducing Lei Lei’s film and animation work to Boston audiences.The first event, “Recycled Cinema”, took place on March 24 at the Brattle Theatre, and exhibited a number of short experimental films in a program that began with Lei Lei’s animated found footage film RECYCLED as a conceptual point of departure. Lei Lei is currently an Asian Cultural Council Grantee in New York.
