The Cyclorama Show: Master of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibition, SMFA, Boston

The School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (SMFA) and Tufts University celebrate the work of graduating Master of Fine Arts students with a large-scale exhibition in the Cyclorama at the Boston Center for the Arts May 17–20, 2016. Working in a range of media and methods, 59 SMFA MFA students will showcase their thesis projects in film, video, painting, performance, sculpture, photography, installation, drawing, and more. Admission to the exhibition and related events is free.

Animating Great TV Commercials - The Olive Jar Panel at the Armory

Animators and Artists, we have a great one this month! At risk of sounding like a listicle website…do you remember the 80s and 90s? When television was full of insane commercials and slightly-unsettling interstitials featuring squishy, oddball characters? We'll help you remember at this awesome event at the Armory! Between 1984 and 2001, Olive Jar Animation created stop-motion, cartoon, and mixed-media work for dozens of commercials and branding campaigns, including many you saw on MTV and Nickelodeon. This panel includes influential creators, Mark Frizzell, Bryan Papciak, Sarah Goodman, Gabriel Polonsky, and Miriam Tendler, telling us what it was like to be a part of that late-20th-century era of animation experimentation. TRACKSMITH UNVEILS 2016 BOSTON MARATHON RUNNER’S LOUNGE & SHOWROOM, FEATURING NEW SPRING COLLECTION & BOBBI GIBB ART GALLERY In honor of the 120th Boston Marathon, performance running brand Tracksmith will open a Runner’s Lounge and Showroom on the race course at 899 Boylston Street. Offering the best in style and culture for the competitive runner, the Runner’s Lounge and Showroom will showcase the brand’s latest spring collection and feature an art gallery of work by Roberta “Bobbi” Gibb, who in 1966 became the first woman to run the Boston Marathon. The gallery will be the first public display of Gibb’s art and will explore the story of her historic 1966 run.  
The brand’s Runner’s Lounge and Showroom is part of Jamestown’s Run Boston Shop Boston project aiming to give the international running community a taste of Boston area athletic wear brands. Opening Wednesday, April 6th, the showroom will feature:
