THE ARTIST: MEANS, MEANING, AND IMPACT IN THE 21ST CENTURY

This debate explores how digital technology can be used to tell new stories and create new experiences that are maximally synergistic, powerfully impactful, and complementary with evolving tools and techniques. Tod Machover of the MIT Media Lab will open the event with an artist’s response to the DeVos Institute’s Generation Elsewhere series and a reflection on the most urgent challenges and opportunities facing the intersection of the arts, design, technology, and science over the coming years.

The Artist: Means, Meaning, and Impact in the 21st Century Friday, December 9, 2016, 3 – 5 p.m. MIT Media Lab (75 Amherst Street, Lecture Hall E14-633, Cambridge, Massachusetts) Free and open to the public. A reception will follow the debate.

SOWA Winter Festival 2016!!!

SOWA is kicking off the holiday shopping season with an annual 3-day SoWa Winter Festival... and this year is going to be bigger & better than ever!  

They're leaving behind their party tent and graduating to the iconic SoWa Power Station at 540 Harrison. In addition to amping up the decorations, cranking the carols and spreading some holiday cheer; over 100 of the regions best artisans and specialty food vendors will be helping create the biggest winter shopping village Boston has ever seen! From homemade brownies and knitted hats, to xmas trees and mead, they'll have your holiday shopping needs covered! They'll also have new friends from Area Four and Black Magic Coffee warming you up with winter cocktails and hot coffee and a charity gift wrapping station to raise funds for Hearth, Inc. - ending elder homelessness.
