Leica Gallery Boston Presents The Sea by Photographer EJ Camp

Leica Gallery Boston Presents The Sea by Photographer EJ Camp Large Format Exhibit Explores the Calm and Wildness of the Ocean
April 6, 2017 — Leica Gallery Boston is proud to present the Boston premiere of EJ Camp’s photo exhibition, The Sea. The collection will debut on May 4, 2017 with an Artist Talk at 4pm followed by an opening reception from 6-9pm. The exhibition will be available for public viewing from May 4 – June 27, 2017.
Camp shot the photographs exclusively with her medium format digital Leica S. Her favorite subjects, the North and South Forks of Long Island, have some of the most beautiful coastlines in North America, making Camp’s quest for unique images inexhaustible. Stemming from a career spent capturing light and emotion in her portraiture, Camp has developed a  passion for the way light reflects off the changing surfaces of the ocean.. The violence and activity of breaking waves and the tranquility of a calm sea have been integral within Camp’s seascapes along with e…

BOSTON - Thursday, April 6, 2017 - Mayor Martin J. Walsh today announced a call for artistsfor the Alternative Space Pilot Program, a partnership between the City of Boston and local businesses and institutions, allowing artists and organizations to apply for non-traditional space to create and rehearse. The call for artists is for two spaces within the Starr Center at Massachusetts Eye and Ear. Today's announcement builds on the success of the first Alternative Space Pilot located at the AT&T Flagship Store, where Mayor Walsh recently joined two classical music groups, Equilibrium Ensemble and Castle for Our Skins, to celebrate their selection as the first performers for the program.
First announced as part of the implementation strategy for the Boston Creates Cultural Plan, the Alternative Space Pilot Project is designed to respond to a…

Facebook logo sculpture by Boston's Zebbler Studios on Chronicle!

Facebook logo sculpture by Zebbler Studios on Chronicle
The Boston Artists Blog was happy to help Facebook find the perfect local creative team to bring this sculpture to fruition, and we were thrilled to see it on tv last night. "We have a sculpture that we had built for our launch a little over 3 and a half years ago. It's made of recycled computer components in the shape of our logo," says Boston's Facebook headquarters on WCVB's Chronicle. The genius creatives behind this sculpture are our friends at Zebbler Studios. You may have seen Zebbler Studios' work before as they are well known for their custom First Night projections on the Boston Public Library. They are also the creators of the psychedelic Shpongletron for the electronic group Shpongle. We look forward to seeing more collaborations with Zebbler Studios around Boston in the near future, and we encourage local businesses to email us if they are in need of art! We know many artists in the area and…

New York Artist Sandra Lerner Exhibits Creative Flux at Harvard’s Gutman Gallery

New York Artist Sandra Lerner Exhibits
Creative Flux at Harvard’s Gutman Gallery

An exhibition of paintings by artist Sandra Lerner conveying sweeping energy, grandeur and a hint of landscape, will be showing at Gutman Gallery, Harvard Graduate School of Education. The works will remain on view from April 1 through May 4, 2017. Lerner, who has been described as a romantic visionary, provides insights into inescapable truths through her art, but her paintings also please the eye and afford aesthetic pleasure. Her paintings are inspired by Taoist philosophy, nature, physics, and cosmology. Critic Donald Kuspit, who wrote an essay on Lerner’s Creative Flux Series, says Lerner’s works, “seem rooted in the grand tradition of romantic landscape painting, with the landscape reduced to its abstract fundamentals, streamlined to its expressive essentials.” But Kuspit added that the elements of her paintings suggest that “something more is at stake than romantically suggestive pure art.” The horizon…
